Due to personal circumstances, one of the key role players at our launch event was unable to attend the launch day that was originally scheduled for the 20th of August 2011. But fear not, because we have ruffled the water from our feathers, tethered our reshuffled schedules to our foreheads and put our best feet forward at full speed. Our long awaited launch event will now be held on the 3RD of SEPTEMBER 2011 from 1pm to 4pm at the Hout Bay recycling depot. We are even more excited than before, because we now have extra time to make sure that the event is absolutely unforgettable!

The final countdown begins, 22 days until launch!

After many months of hard work and planning everything is on schedule for our launch in one months time. TrashBack uphindo-phindo! will be launching in Imizamo Yethu, Hout Bay on the 20th of August 2011.

Since first meeting Nokwanda and her team at the Hout Bay Recycling Co-Op (HBR) in
January 2011 we were inspired! We felt their excitement and could see their dedication to their work. We subsequently met with members of GreenLiving and so the journey that is TrashBack began.  The project has come a long way since its humble beginnings and we are very fortunate to have two spring scales sponsored by Scales Inc; printing and signage sponsored by Office National; plastic crates sponsored by Mondi; a generous monetary donation from Raw Love pet foods and; an SMS service sponsored by BulkSMS. Additionally our fortnightly prizes are sponsored by the Hout Bay SuperSpar, Fish on the Rocks and the Clothing Bank, allowing us to distribute shopping vouchers, fish & chips vouchers and clothing to the local Imizamo Yethu community. We are grateful for our sponsors’ enthusiastic support and look forward to the next chapter for TrashBack!
